Not to be that guy, but should this be posted in World Class forums? I’m not sure what journey Jersey Surf is on and I wish them well, but it seems they’re not interested in competing. They’re not even listed on DCI anymore…

Missed your complaints on the BDB thread, figure skating thread, Super Bowl halftime thread, etc.  Why should only this thread be subjected to sub-forum policing?

In fairness to me, I asked about BDB making top 15 in World Class Semis. That is very much on topic in a World Class forum.

In fairness to you, you are correct... and that is what makes your thread a good example.  I have no complaint with your thread being here, but I can see someone insisting that since BDB is an open-class corps, any discussion pertaining to them "belongs" in the open-class forum.  That sort of thing has happened in the past.

Meanwhile, there is no sub-forum for general news, pertinent to the activity but not attached to a particular corps or class of corps... you know, like several of the threads in this forum right now.  We have been using this sub-forum for that type of content, even if it is off-label.

Few of the posted news threads in this forum are ever commented on, so you’re welcome. I’m not policing conversation, just asking how long an organization that hasn’t communicated intentions of fielding a Word Class corps still be considered World Class news.

They’ve got some pretty cool ventures going on but none seem to involve a corps or ensemble of any kind, or an expressed desire to return to return to competition. But good on them for not just closing up shop altogether.

From their website:

“From 1990 to 2024, the Jersey Surf Drum & Bugle Corps inspired performers and audiences with dynamic shows, national tours, and unforgettable educational experiences. As a proud World Class participant in Drum Corps International (DCI), Jersey Surf helped shape the lives of thousands of young musicians across the country.

While our competitive ensembles are no longer active, the impact of those years continues to resonate. Today, our legacy fuels a broader mission—making high-quality music education and performance experiences accessible to all.”

Somewhere between "not anymore" and "as long as they keep attaching the Jersey Surf name to things".

so i guess at this point, Surf competing ever again is a pipe dream
