1997 was big for me.

the "fog" effect of wavy lines coming into focus out of what appears to be total randomness 2 counts before they hit

the drums literally running in circles around each other

for me, the appeal of his drill is how organic it always feels and always 100% in service to the music.  he never sacrificed servicing the music with being flashy just to be flashy.

Overall. 1997. Although you could really group 96-99 as the best 4 year run.

As for favorite move. Nothing iconic, just anytime Vanguard hornline members had to bring their elbows in for a pass through.

What about hardest Myron drill? 2000 SCV? 2006 Scouts?

I feel like the folding/collapsing “arrow” was common in his designs. Was there a name for this (other than difficult to clean)?

There were a couple killer moves in Regiment 2010 that were beasts to get clean. As an entire show, probably not the hardest. But combined with the fact that the Regiment members had never had drill that tough before, I'd say it was the hardest. e.g., it took a long time for the block and triangle interaction to get clean here:

Also, Regiment had very few rewrites that season, as far as I can remember. They just cleaned all summer.

For us younger folks: what years and with which groups was Myron the drill writer? (I'm also curious what marching bands he may have written for, if any.)

many years.  started on visual staff with vanguard in the mid 80s.  was the visual caption head for SCV's wins in 89 and 99.  he also wrote incredible drill for seattle's best show ever in 2002 when they made finals, which was a cool moment for those of us in the pacific northwest.

this is from wikipedia:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myron_Rosander

Rosander's other drum corps work includes visual designer for the Blue Stars in 2012, Phantom Regiment in 2010, and Madison Scouts in 2006. He has also designed for the Bushwackers all-age drum corps and many high school bands including L.D. Bell from Hurst, Texas. Rosander served on the DCI Task Force, participated in clinics, and was a judge for Bands of America as well as indoor competitions.
