With the growth of prediction betting markets for all sorts of things, when will someone bet about predicted DCI results?

Hopefully never. We don't need people with no self control to harass the staff/designers, and more importantly, the members themselves because they decided to be an idiot and gamble in a subjective activity.

Love this question btw. I’m not betting, but I’m sure there are people on here who will put their money where their mouth is on early season predictions.

Do people really harass the staff and designers beyond comments on here?  Never heard about that, but hope that doesn’t happen.

One of my  first memories from tour was standing in retreat at Giants Stadium next to the Cavaliers right after their three-peat and hearing some bitter old northeastern DCI "fans" shouting obscenities and homophobic slurs at them. Fast forward a few years, I walked by another "fan" urinating on one of their vehicles after they won in 2006.

For real?!  That’s so absurdly stupid. There’s no need for that. People need to be better.

Yup. And don't forget how gross/creepy people got towards the Bluecoats guard when they did Jagged Line. 

 

Now imagine they have money on the line. 

 

Or worse yet, performers get in on it - blowing a solo for cash.

The abuse heaped on some college athletes in their social media is craaaaaazyl   Even for some minor prop bet.   The Venn between gambling addiction / obsessive fixation disorders / rage control issues has a significant overlap.
