At Championships, what do corps who don't move on from Quarters to Semis, or Semis to Finals, do on Semis and/or Finals day?

Do they have things for the members to do? Do they drop them off near Lucas Oil Stadium and let them run around downtown Indy all day? Do they head home on Friday or Saturday?

As kinda cold as it sounds. I suspect the contracts are written such as "the contract ends in Indy whenever our last performance and pack out is done."

E.g. the kids are free to do as they wish.  Hang around the lots, scope out rehearsals, see about a ticket or entry in for the rest of the shows, etc.

Given that a lot of them don't come from wherever the 'home base' of the corps is anymore hauling back there to fly out to home doesn't always make sense.  Similarly, corps rent busses so the bus contracts can simply be written to end in Indy rather than haul back somewhere, they go back into the custody of the company who leases them and they may go to...wherever from there.

I would like to think that corps do a 'check' to make sure their kids have plans and that if anyone does need a haul back to wherever, they keep one (or how many ever) of the busses to do so.

But the stories of the drum corps kids encamped in the airport in Indy to head home that weekend are indicative that many of them just leave from there, so presumably the contract ends.

Sad. BITD finalists and some non-finalists were allowed to watch shows from the end zone and backfield seats for free at "Nationals" before the journey back home.

Sitting behind a black felt curtain in Lucas Oil would be pretty lame though.

Remember when Anaheim would go to stands single-file, in step,  form block, and then sit down in unison?

I dunno if their performer passes get them into the building if they're not performing that day or not.

We practiced that as our Director was a Naval Officer.  We even practiced going into parade rest, so that the sound of our horns hitting the metal buckles on our chest would be in perfect unison like a clean snare line.

I had members from not competing corps near me at semis last year so I am assuming they do.

I used to cook for Jersey surf back 2012 through 2015 and three of the years they were dropped off in Indy during the day on Saturday.

The pack up the next day but attend the other shows to watch as normal. The last day and overnight plans happen as planned.

No, their passes get them in the stadium for semis and finals.
