wolfgang Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Yesterday, the top high school basketball recruit signed with Kansas. There had been a long recruiting war for him between Kentucky (Nike) and Kansas (Adidas). My understanding is the kid had ties to Nike through his AAU team but the school with the other manufacturer won out. How does this relate to drum corps? Is Nike creating Air Zingalis and Adidas Brubaker Specials, No. Especially for percussion, instructors endorse manufacturers like Zildjan, etc. Yesterday, a top BOA and WGI school hired a band director with an extensive percussion background. The story mentioned his background, but at the end mentioned percussion companies he endorses. I thought this odd for a public school teacher, but whatever. In DCI, if a corps playing Pearl drums or Yamaha horns hires a new Caption Head or designer with agreements with a different manufacturer, how does that work? Would Pearl be ok with one of their guys teaching a corps that plays on different drums, for example? Quote
KVG_DC Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Dunno but the money is usually what drives things like this. On an aside, I'd totally wear a pair of Air Zingalis. Â Quote
