wolfgang Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Which corps do you feel had the best sound (tone quality, blend, intonation) of the G-bugle era? B flats were legazized in 2000 and for that season some corps used Gs and others Bb. I believe by 2001 most top corps if not all were on Bb's. 1 Quote
waliman4444 Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Star of Indiana 1993 and Blue Devils 1988..I'm sure there are others but these two came to mind..peace Quote
OldSnareDrummer Posted May 6 Posted May 6 From a completely unqualified drummer's POV, you can't have this conversation without Madison in the 70's being mentioned. 3 Quote
IllianaLancerContra Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Argonne Rebels proved that G lines (valve-rotor even!) could indeed play in tune. 3 Quote
baritonebugler Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Santa Clara Vanguard '89. That closer is one of the most beautiful bits of brass playing I've ever heard, even through my crap speakers. Quote
erroneous Posted Friday at 05:24 AM Posted Friday at 05:24 AM i think star 93 had the most balanced and in tune horn line ive heard from that era. It's the quiet stuff. it seems the more quiet a G bugel line plays, the worse they sound. Star sounded great while playing quiet. 1 Quote
