leif
1987 Suncoast, when we played inside a shopping mall in Jacksonville. ouch, ouch, ouch The loudest corps I ever heard that I wasn't playing in was probably 94 BD at Preview of Champions in Madison. skajerk
OK... when was it that the Spirit hornline supposedly shattered the press box windows and is that a true story? If true, that has my vote. Others that pop into my head (that I saw live)... Phantom- 1983-84 (1812) '84 (Scythian Suite) '85 (opening and finale of Symphonie Fantastique) Spirit- 1983-84 (Blues In The Night) Star- 1985 (When You Wish Upon a Star reprise) Garfield- '83 (Rocky Point Holiday) '84 (Tonight) '85 (Jeremiah Symphony, Make our Garden Grow) Suncoast Sound- '85 (Overture, Midnight in Miami) '86 (opening and finale of Adventures in Time) VK- 1983-85 (Ending) Freelancers- 1983-84 (Even Now) '84 (Power Suite)

tenorboyuk
i think for loudest hornlines, taking away all the line but one specific person then it gotta be madison 1996! (i know that defeats the object of a line, sorry)
life after jr corps
Definitely Madison '75....I think the stands slid back a foot or so... Listen to the final note of the show if you can. Just when you didn't think it could get any louder or longer it does. The DM threw his hat into the air and then brought in this great cresendo. A Great Drum Corps moment!!! And remember that they were off the field to the right....They called it a finish line back then.
JHSSousa
Phantom '93.... without a doubt... but then maybe it's because everytime I get to Fire of Eternal Glory, I keep trying to jam the volume louder... , if not the loudest I've ever heard, it's certainly one of the greatest "moments" I know of. Dino
Blue Devils were pretty loud in 79 and 80, but I would have to say the "Loudest" was Spirit in 80. We lost one of the best, if not the best horn instructor ever, when Jim Ott passed. I could only imagine how his hornlines in the 90's would of sounded. Better yet, who would he be teaching now? Oh, I have to say something about 75 Madison (Company Front) was very loud.
sarnia sam
No question, Madison 75. Honorable mention Spirit 80 and Madison 74, Phantom 83. For interest sake, checkout Oaklands 75 & 76 and observe the distortion on the recordings because of their volume. 84BDsop
1984 Blue Devils was the loudest thing I've ever heard - the victory concert at Lansdale, PA.1987 SCV was the loudest corps I ever taught. 2002 Renegades? Oh, GOD do I remember that show! it was the only time we beat Garfield the whole year...by .6, AND it was the last show before Nats. Threw a lot of people for a loop who thought we had no chance. I remember we were milling around backfield as the Bushwackers were doing an exhibition. I was talking with some VK buys, and when Bush started playing "Santos" I just stopped and turned my head...because that was the beginning of our re-entry!
