jdostie
Grounded percussion in '79? Some, it had to be carried on and off as I remember, but could then be grounded. I'm pretty sure we had grounded tympani for part of our show in '79. Edited August 8, 2009 by jdostie
baja
Dave Ball marched with the VK in the 70's. This picture is from the 1979 VK. It's amazing what people know on this thread, thanks! Here's one titled Cavaliers at Cherry Creek
CrunchyTenor
Huh....you learn something new every so often...I always thought VK had cadet unis with shakos before the Panama hat/tacky Hawaiian shirt days... We first wore the cadets in 74. They went through 78, though they put the drumline back in silks that last year. They went back to the original VK white silks in 79 through 81, though they put those stupid hats on the brass and percussion, and capes on the guard and DM in 79. The Hawai'ian shirts debuted in 82. DPEmerald
In honor of the Troopers return to finals here are a couple of pics. Not sure of the year, the guard uni should give it away for someone though.

DPEmerald
I just found about 200 pictures from 1982 DCI. Mostly prelims, almost all are top 15. I'll put up a couple each day, should keep us busy for a while. Here is Tommy's predecessor, 1982 Knights (I think).
