sburstall
I'll say this...the color guard unis of the past were a lot more sexier than what is on the field now.
uncle z
looks like 27 to me. Is that picture at Birmingham? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No--I'm thinking that's at '79 DCI Midwest--probably why there's a '77 Cavie age-out in the picture! jimdugan
79 Midwest was a bad show for us. The midwest crowd did not care for the civil war suite. But then again we were not a very good drum corps on first tour that year.
charleschuchuta
I'll say this...the color guard unis of the past were a lot more sexier than what is on the field now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I guess, in a butch sort of way.

uncle z
And now for the rest of the story................................................ That picture is from the '79 Appleton Flag Day show. It had rained before practice, hence the Blue Star helmet sans plume!! Our mallet/tympani instructor had decided since he had just tuned the tympani that he didn't want to put them out in the rain and have them go out of tune. Soooooo, this is during practice of our concert "La Fiesta"--there was a tympani solo during the soprano solo in the middle and the mallets and tympani players are standing in for grounded tympani--it didn't sound quite the same when played upon helmets!!!
