I think it's Leroy Anderson's "The Phantom Regiment."

Sac played "The Vanished Army", by Kenneth J. Alford.

"The Phantom Regiment" was played as an opener by ........................................................... the Phantom Regiment.

You are correct, Sac did play "The Vanished Army" OTL in the early '60's. They also played Anderson's "Phantom Regiment," in '67/'68 - though not as an opener.

Thanks for the update, friends. Vanished Army it was.

I do remember that someone played Phantom Regiment in the very early 60s before PR DC existed. It wasn't SAC, maybe Kevin's? Not sure.

SAC did another march in the early 60s, Americans We. I think El came close in the name, and if we're thinking of the same tune, this the name of the tune as they announced it as part of their repertoire. My source is my recollection from programs and Drum Corps News. but also SAC tried to post every one of their reportoires on their web site, with some gaps. I don't think that page is there any more. As always, I stand to be corrected, as I am operating from memory on the historical stuff.
