tubawarrior
that would be a hilarious commercial to put on espn2 during the finals--someone sitting there practicing the vanguard yell. just like those "without sports commercials" that show competition in odd scenarios <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Y'know....for all thagt SCV denies they program that yell...doesn't it seem that the break in RCM is longer in 05 than in 87?...just long enough for a proper yell??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I actually thought I heard/read an interview (or heard it from someone directly) that it is in fact programed.....actually, wait a minute....I'm thinking it was the show designer's commentary on the 2004 DVD. And after i checked it out, yes...Key Poulan says that the "Vanguard yell" was in fact programmed in for 2004 to give the audience a chance for some interaction. SCVsopAaron
It was TOTALLY programmed... Every one for the last few years was programmed... lol... I remember Key telling us about it while walking us through the show... "We're gunna tweak this a bit, change this... Here comes the Vanguard yell.... Pretty cool, huh?" I love Key! frontline99
I actually thought I heard/read an interview (or heard it from someone directly) that it is in fact programed.....actually, wait a minute....I'm thinking it was the show designer's commentary on the 2004 DVD. And after i checked it out, yes...Key Poulan says that the "Vanguard yell" was in fact programmed in for 2004 to give the audience a chance for some interaction. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is definitely programmed. I stood by some friends (out of the vanguard's show that night due to injuries) and staff at Precision West. They told me exactly where it would be. Watch for the high mark time daaaa daaaa daaaa dut (as previously stated) So yeah. Edited July 21, 2005 by frontline99

Cardman
Just wondering if ya'll had figured out where in the show it was suppose to be...? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, according to the 2003 dvd commentary by the staff, they do NOT program the "Vanguard" yell, nor do they wish for folks to yell "Vanguard" during the "silence" that always seems to be somewhere in the show. They said something to the effect of, "For some reason, people thought we wanted them to yell "Vanguard" during this silence, and we actually put it there hoping to punctuate the music...." Listen to the 2003 commentary during the "Vanguard" yell (Last piece). That being said, my favorite "Vanguard" yell was last year...AWESOME! ^OO^
AggiePhil
It is definitely a bit longer. And frankly, it feels a bit awkward as well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, it is kind of too much of a pause, and honestly, I prefer Russian Christmas Music without that big of a pause (and without the yell there). I wish it could go somewhere else in the show. And BTW, there is a current SCV APD that you can hear it on. I think the spot in the 2003 show was great. And I nailed it in SA. :)

Bluefan
This discussion reminded me off the SCV alumni corps (I think in 2002) when they basically did a "best of" show. I think the whole crowd had to yell "VANGUARD!!!!" four times in about four minutes.
