84BDsop
Well, according to the 2003 dvd commentary by the staff, they do NOT program the "Vanguard" yell, nor do they wish for folks to yell "Vanguard" during the "silence" that always seems to be somewhere in the show. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As the say in Russia...toughki-####ski! The audience has decided they want it in....it's in....tink of it as added GE! And I agree....the 04 yell was the BEST!!

SCVsopAaron
Well, according to the 2003 dvd commentary by the staff, they do NOT program the "Vanguard" yell, nor do they wish for folks to yell "Vanguard" during the "silence" that always seems to be somewhere in the show. They said something to the effect of, "For some reason, people thought we wanted them to yell "Vanguard" during this silence, and we actually put it there hoping to punctuate the music...." Listen to the 2003 commentary during the "Vanguard" yell (Last piece). That being said, my favorite "Vanguard" yell was last year...AWESOME! ^OO^ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Do you REALLY believe they were serious............... HAHAHA!

PeeWee
Two corrections that need to be made in this thread: 1. In 2004, they actually DID program-in the "Vanguard!" yell. In fact, they called that spot in the drill the Vanguard halt (where they did the Vanguard toast). 2. If you're listening to the pause in RCM on the Pleasant Hill APD, you're out of date. They shortened the pause in Walnut, CA, as it was in 1987, so it should feel quite natural to you now. Prepare yourself for the yell ahead of time, 'cause it sneeks up on you quickly. And be sure to yell it with all of your heart ('cause those kids need your support). :) VANGUAAAARD!!!
ContraRich77
The spot is in RCM after the fast paced intro, after FOUR SLOW HIGH MARK TIME STEPS, after which is a seemingly intentionally crafted moment of silence. THAT"S WHERE THE YELL GOES :)
AggiePhil
2. If you're listening to the pause in RCM on the Pleasant Hill APD, you're out of date. Well that's the most recent version DCI offers us. :( Edited July 21, 2005 by AggiePhil
