JMS0527
Other than percussion, when was the last time someone other than the big 3 won any caption? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Let's see..... Brass - '96 Phantom Visual - '90 Phantom if you count that tie with the Cadets...otherwise, '89 Phantom GE - '99 Santa Clara
ScribeToo
A few nights ago Crown received a 17.7 in brass and beat devils with Ken Turner judging, who by the way is the chief brass judge. Not even a week later Jeff Mitchell has Crown at a 16.4. If brass judges are truly basing their numbers off performance and the Box 1-5 concept there is no way this should happen. I"m not saying Ken Turner got it right and Jeff screwed up... I"m just saying that there is no way that Crown can be top box 4/low box 5 and then be low box 4 a few days later. I just think that as you mention there are biases and too many preconceived notions about a group and where they should be placed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you proofread this post?? No matter what else, this activity WILL CHANGE from night to night.. For all we know, Crown had an off night -- for crying out loud, they're humans out there.. it DOES happen.. Or are you really saying that once a corps gets a score in a certain range there is NO POSSIBLE WAY they could EVER drop on any subsequent night? Are you saying because they obviously got there once.. they should just stay there and not have to earn it? That's like someone on a diet saying they've lost 50# when they actually gained 10# of it back. Yeah they DID it.. but they also slipped back a little, too. Maybe Ken Turner is the one who made a mistake a few nights agoand Jeff Mitchell got it right.. "chief judge"/schmief smudge.. Jeff's held that position in the past too.. (or was that just with DCA?.. either way it doesn't matter)... the bottom line is these guys have to judge THAT SHOW ON THE FIELD THAT NIGHT. How can you say that one is right and one is wrong when you didn't hear what those two guys heard each of those two nights.. you weren't in their shoes doing their jobs? You are in no position to presume either of them is wrong. Stef Edited July 31, 2005 by ScribeToo
