Memphis Sound

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, i'm just tryin to get some info. I am 17 years old and I am showing interest in joining Memphis Sound. I want to try out for their bass line. I marched bass for two years in my 350 member high school, with a large drumline for both of those years. This past year they recently lost two tenors and needed players, so I had to move. But bass is in my blood. What would be the best way oof going about joining up? Any vets returning? Anything will help.

Hey!

My name is Chris and this will be my 3rd season with Memphis Sound. Like the post above me said, definitely check out the website for exact audition information (coming soon) as well as applying for auditions and printing off the battery warmups/exercises.

www.Mempho.org <--Short version, same website.

You may also want to check out the forums, there is a link on the left menu. There are quite a few members that post there, as well as a bassline thread already in the percussion section where you can talk to some other potential members that are auditioning. So far I have only seen 2 of last year's basses say they will be auditions, but that's only what I've heard, and either way you don't have to worry about it - everyone has to audition for a spot in the corps, even vets. So print out the music on the website, work your chops and good luck at auditions!

If you have any other questions, you can send me a PM. Keep checking the website for audition information and everything else you'll need to know. They are announcing 2006 staff tomorrow (Oct. 10th), so it should be interesting. You'll see on the front page Scott Koter has already signed on to help out this year, should be a great season. B)

Just wondering, where are you from?

Anyway, see you at auditions!
