Penguin
It's a term used 'round these parts as well. :)
mwpercussion14
It's in the east coast.
DrumCorpsMom
ok, keep it coming....and if this is the case....is it international? Our friends up north, do you throw babies, eh? or down south (if there are any Mexican corps) ¿usted lanza a bebés? (insert country and language joke here) It's a known phrase in Canada. madscout96
Actually started when someone threw a baby....the rest is history. Disclaimer: No babies have been harmed in this activity. The art of having babies tossed is a professional sport, and should never be done without proper training and fully accredited certification. All joking aside... did it REALLY start that way? I've heard the expression ever since I got into drum corps, and have used it often, and have often wondered how it started.
tubawarrior
I think I was once told Charlie Groh started it
DrumCorpsFan27
It was around the east coast in the early '80s when I marched with the Lancers.
Slow Adam
I've heard it many a time in Ontario.
CabsMello
I can vouch for hearing it (and likely using it) in and around PA (Steel City Ambassadors) MA (27th Lancers) and NJ (Caballeros). I suspect it was passed around by the same guy who has been stalking the earth and informing impressionable teenage boys about the "wonders" of Spanish Fly BBS
audiodave
we used to use that expression as early as 1977 that i can remember. typically..the babies would be thrown at the company front, or the last note of the show! didn't see any thrown in '
