Whether they be long-time fans or first-time spectators, being drawn into the Kilties unique style and vibrant performances makes for an unforgettable experience. In 2006, more than ever, the experience will become very personal as the corps members share a view of life from their vantage point in the autobiographical “The World Through Plaid-Colored Glasses.” The viewfinder begins with an opening statement of Loch Lomond. Fitting of the Buchanan tartan donned by the corps, which represents one of only five clans of the Loch Lomond region, this powerful melody has become a favorite among the corps’ members and fans alike. Moving further into the Kilties perspective, the corps shares its undeniable broader Scottish roots with Nelly Bly. This swift and driving Celtic folksong will leave audiences humming its strains well after the corps leaves the field. It isn’t possible to look through these spectacles and not view a vision of fun. Audiences will find the completely-Kilties version of Norwegian Wood to be completely cool. Anchoring the center of their production, Norwegian Wood will hold its own and more in the category of pure entertainment value. Kilties are said to have hearts as big as a watermelon and all plaid, and the heart and soul of every individual corps member and staff alike are poured into their emotional closer, The Water is Wide. Arranged by brass caption head and program coordinator, Jerry Kelsey, “in loving memory of Joel “Lothar” Magnuson,” The Water is Wide will musically invite each audience member into the famed and unbreakable bond that defines the Kilties family. And no viewpoint of life as a Kiltie would be complete without experiencing the Kiltie classic, Auld Lang Syne. A new arrangement for the 2006 production proves once again that the Kilties know how to strike a balance between their 70-year tradition of excellence and their confidence in the future.
