oldguard
All;Anyone have a list of what the show title and repertoire that Vision Elite is performing this season? No luck on CorpsReps or DCP. Thanks in advance! Bill According to a friend, who was at the Pittsfield show, their repertoire consists of a medley of Earth Wind and Fire tunes, including September, Gateway, Reason, Boogie Wonderland, Shinning Star and Fantasy and that they finish with Quincy Jones' Birdland. No actual show title given in the program. He also said they are doing a very good job with this in both music and drill.

bdtrpt1
Vision Elite Program Updated July 14, 2006 Show Title: Rebirth of Funk Repertoire: Earth Wind and Fire Medley (September, Getaway, Reasons, Boogie Wonderland, Shining Star) Fantasy Birdland Vision Elite was established in Brooklyn this past November to serve youth in the Tri-State area. The corps is part of the year-round program of the Brooklyn Music and Arts Program. The inaugural program takes one on an exploration of the origins of funk, including the bebop era that passionately reflected the African-American experience. Though we think of funk today as referring to an aggressive dance music with a heavy groove, its origins were very much rooted in the harsh realities of an earlier era. Music selections include, “Earth, Wind and Fire Medley,” consisting of “September,” “Getaway,” Reasons,” Boogie Wonderland,” and Shining Star, “ plus the selections “Fantasy” and Quincy Jones’ contemporary arrangement of “Birdland.” Staff Executive Director- Tyrone Brown Corps Director- Antonio Thompson Brass Staff- Antonio Thompson (caption head) Bradley Kerr Green (arranger) Brian Dowery Gary Padmore Stanley Reed Percussion Staff- Timothy Greene (arranger, caption head) Damien Escarpeta Darick Kelly Phil Kester Guard Staff- Dani Vialpando Visual Staff- Izzy Delgado (designer) Antonio Thompson Stanley Reed Thanks Antonio Thompson Deputy Director- The Brooklyn Music and Arts Program Corps Director- Vision Elite Drum and Bugle Corps 321 Ashland Place Brooklyn, NY 11217 athompson@brooklynmusicandartsprogram.org (718) 399-2300 x.14 (phone) (718) 399-2351 (fax)
