GuardOdyssey
Right on the nose! And, apparently, it's set up so that it's exactly what a corps wants to do. From my understanding, it's these top ten corps that call the shots and get the higher performance fees. (Not that I'm complaining, since they're doing a good job of it.) Matthew, The last sentence in your post needs to be reworded better yet, eliminated. This may be your "understanding" but it is far from reality. CallipygianKing
My new favorite quote about scores (pulled from the DII/III Forum): I think that we need to look at this scientifically.1. Academy has 7 letters in their name. 2. This is the first time they are appearing at finals 3. I have an 8:47am flight tomorrow. 4. They have a 12min show 5. The Finals are on August 12th 7+1+8.47+12+12= 40.47 They will score a 40.
GovieKruzer
Well, if that were the case... 1) there is 10 letters in Govenaires 2) it's their 79th year 3)it's their 3rd year coming to DCA 4) they've won 2nd Place the last 2 times they were there 5) there are 3 corps in Minnesota (each MN corps gets to add this) 6) The home show is on August 19 so... 10+70+3+2+2+3+19=109 The govenaires will get an 109. CallipygianKing
I'll counter... 1) There are 8 letters in "Chops, Inc.", but since Chops is made up of "Chopstix", "Top Chops", and "Hot Chops" (you are the sum of all your parts), then that's 24 letters 2) There are 3 corps in Minnesota (I'll take points where I can) 3) I bought a Glassmen pin at a show in England for £3, which equals $5.55 4) There are currently 6 living members of the Mayer family (3 siblings + 2 wives + 1 kid), and Chops has the craziest one (allowing me to square that 6 and giving us 36) 5) Unless I under-counted, we went on the field with 41 members at our home show. That's 24+3+5.55+36+41=109.55 And it means we edge you guys out by a little more than half a point, making it a 3-peat for the Govenaires. :mmm: This game is ridiculous. Who's up for a cold one at Patrick's? (Kruzer... You will at least attend the Govies' home show, right?)
disko_stew
The rule is that if two corps do not compete head-to-head on the previous weekend all comparisons are silly. Also even if two corps compete head-to-head on that previous weekend, the scores may not be relevent depending on how the two corps approached that show, who the judges were at that show, and an infinite number of logistic intangibles. It's simple: scores shmores. Let's party!!! AMEN BROTHA!!!! s'mores! yummy!!! and it'll be cold enough in MN when we come up for the shows in august, that we could make some s'mores using the campfires we'll need to keep our extremities warm after the shows! b**bs looking forward to the MN trip! see you all soon! 1 beer to 'the smooth one' :mmm: -DM|MD
