Galen
Average tuba weighs between 250 and 300 pounds, not including the beer belly. Oh, you meant the INSTRUMENT! :P Edited September 23, 2006 by Galen
The Line
If I remember correctly, the horn we have at BD (Dynasty 5/4 BBb 4v) is listed as 29lbs, and I believe that is currently the heaviest and largest horn in production. It will certainly make a man out of you. Edited September 23, 2006 by The Line

Thought the Dynastys were only 26 pounds?
Sayre Kulp
I know for a fact that the 5/4 Dynasty 4 valve contra bass in G is 29 pounds. I can't imagine the BBb making much of a difference. I play the 4/4 Yamaha 3 valve G/BBb convertible and that weighs in a 25 pounds. Funny how another inch of bell and an extra valve & piston can add about 4-5 pounds.
