John Schmitt
Gonna go with Doug, but I remember playing a nice arrangement of autumn leaves by salman rushdie.
BrassMachine05
My vote def goes with Jay Bocook. From his first masterpiece with the Cadets in 93, to the whirling madness of 97 and even 05 and 06 original numbers that he did are nearly perfect. I like Wayne's style alot but theres only so many times you can play that rythme of 2 dotted quarter notes and 2 eight notes in a 5/4 bar before it gets played out. IMO Jim Wren is better than Shaw. Key is def up there when he's just arrainging for SCV, his other productions seem stale. But best team def goes to Cipriani/Bocook. Don Hill is okay but too simplistic. festive
If we're just talking about 2006, I'd say Phantom. Agreed. Shaw is almost to the point where his stuff is as good as Wren's. I'm saying an awful lot there. Regiment's drum material was incendiary in 06.

It's two dotted quarters and two quarters in 5/4...get it right! :P Luckily I think the Blue Devils are moving away from that pattern, though. jthomas666
Surprisingly, I'll go with Phantom. :P The blending of An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue in 2005, for example, was absolutely masterful work. It's also very hard to not give the nod to BD.
