The Sunrisers are proud to announce their 2007 competitive program:

The program will feature music from two of the most acclaimed Cirque du Soleil productions, "Quidam" and "La Nouba", as well as original music written specifically for the 2007 edition of the Sunrisers Drum & Bugle Corps. The Sunrisers will explore the exotic & contemporary sounds this great music has to offer.

Come to the next Sunrisers rehearsal this SUNday December 10th from 1PM to 6PM , at the New York Jets state-of-the-art practice facility at Hofstra University in Hempstead Long Island.

CirqueMaskBullet.gif Rich Guillen - Brass Arrangements

Rich Guillen is a music educator and high school band director. Originally from Kearny NJ, he earned his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Kean University (NJ) and a Masters Degree in Music Education from Western Conn. State University. He marched Contra with the Sunrisers in 1985, '87,'88, & '89, as well as with the Garfield Cadets in 1986. In 1991 & 1992, he served as a contra, brass instructor and drum major. In 1993 Rich served as a brass instructor for the Hawthorne Caballeros and Dutch Boy Drum & Bugle Corps. Rich returned to the Sunrisers in 1994 as the brass arranger and caption head from 1994 - 1999. Rich was the director of bands at Central Regional HS in Bayville NJ from 1989 - 1997, leading the band to two state and Northeast Regional Championships. In 1997, he became the director of the award winning Arlington Admiral Marching Band, where he also arranged the music for the program and is currently on the music faculty as director for two of the 5 concert bands and two jazz bands at Arlington HS. Under his direction, the Admiral Band consistently placed as one of the top 5 marching bands in NY State since 1999. In 2000, Bandworld Magazine named the Admiral Band as one of the "Top 100" bands in the USA. In 2004 the band was crowned 2004 NY State Champion and was runner-up to the championship in 2001, 2003 & 2005. The Admiral Band was also named the 2003 & 2004 Musical Arts Conference Champions. In 2004, the Admiral Band placed in the top 25 bands in the nation at the Bands of America Grand National Championships, held in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rich been a DCA Brass/Music Judge since 2001, and has judged the DCA World Championship Finals three of the last four years. He is also an active freelance arranger, composer, guest conductor and clinician and currently arranges for the marching bands at Immaculata (NJ) HS, Scotch Plains-Fanwood (NJ) HS, and Verona (NJ) HS. Additional writing and arranging credits include the US Naval Academy Drum & Bugle Corps, Northern Highlands (NJ) HS, Copiague (NY) HS, Walt Whitman (NY) HS, East Brunswick (NJ) HS, West Orange (NJ) HS, JP Stevens (NJ) HS, Brick Twp (NJ) HS and Kempsville (VA) HS.

CirqueMaskBullet.gifSean Vega - Battery Percussion Arrangements

Sean Vega is the Program Coordinator and Battery Arranger for the WGI Independent World Class Champion Riverside Community College Winter Percussion Ensemble. Over the past five years this ensemble has not placed out of the top two spots at the WGI World Championship and has won the Gold Medal twice. RCC has also won the SCPA IW Championship Trophy four of the last five years, and is undefeated in WGI Regional competition. Sean also serves as the percussion arranger for the world-renowned Riverside Community College Marching Tigers. This year will mark Sean’s ninth year as a member of the prestigious percussion staff of the eleven time DCI Champion Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. The Blue Devils is also where he served as a member of the tenor line from 1994 to 1997. In these thirteen combined years with BD, Sean has helped the corps win five DCI Championships, 3 DCI High Percussion Awards, and the DCI Multi-Tenor Individual Title in 1995. The summer of 2005 saw the opening of SeaWorld San Diego’s exciting stage production entitled “Riptide”. Sean served as composer / arranger / choreographer for this production, and continues to work for SeaWorld in this capacity for the upcoming performance season. As an arranger, composer, and choreographer, Sean’s list of credits include entertainment provided for a long list of distinguished companies such as Rite Aid, Mazda, Peoplesoft, Wells Fargo, Jaguar, the National Basketball Association, and the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. Other credits include his role as percussion consultant to the All Japan Marching Band Champion Soka Renaissance Vanguard from Tokyo, Japan, battery arranger for the New York Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps, quad tech for Mission Viejo High School, and the percussion arranger for his alma mater, the John W. North High School Blue Star Regiment form Riverside, CA. As a current endorser of Dynasty USA, Vic Firth, Remo, Zildjian, and Xymox Percussion, Sean actively performs, adjudicates, and serves as a clinician for Bands of America, Bowl Games of America, Percussive Arts Society, Drum Corps International And Drum Corps Europe. Sean received an Associate of Arts from Riverside Community College in 2002 and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from California State University San Bernardino in 2005.

CirqueMaskBullet.gif Brian Dinkle - Pit Percussion arrangements

Brian Dinkel is an in-demand performer, arranger, and instructor from the Southern California region. He completed his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from CSU, Northridge, and is currently completing his BA in Music Education. As a performer, he has had the opportunity to play with artists such as Tom Scott, Ed Shaughnessy, Alex Acuna, Peter Erskine, and Jerry Steinholtz. He has also performed with ensembles like the Anaheim Kingsmen Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Black Knights Winter Percussion (2003 WGI Silver medalist) and Riverside Community College (2004 WGI Silver medalist). As an arranger, Brian has written marching band shows and indoor shows for Moorpark HS, Granada Hills HS, Ramona HS, Chaparral HS, La Sierra HS, Simi Valley HS, and many more. Brian currently is teaching 4-time WGI A class Finalist, Newbury Park HS, Granada Hills HS and the 2005 WGI Gold-medalist, Riverside Community College Marching Band & Winter drumline. Brian has also been the pit instructor for the Esperanza Drum & Bugle Corps from San Diego, CA since 2004. Brian has been a member of the Vic Firth Education Team since 2003, and proudly uses VF sticks and mallets.

CirqueMaskBullet.gif Brian Murphy - Visual Design

Brian was the visual designer for the St. Ann’s Neponset (MA) Winter Guard, which was a WGI Independent World Class Silver Medalist in 2000 and 2001 and a Bronze Medalist in 2002. Brian also designed the visual programs for the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps from 2000 -2002, the Arlington HS Admiral Marching Band HS (NY) in 2006, Seminole (FLA) HS Marching Band, Pope (GA) HS Marching Band, and the Arcadia (CA) HS Marching Band. Brian marched in the Alliance of Greater Boston, MA and the Garfield Cadets, NJ. Brian has judged for various marching band circuits, DCA and is currently a visual judge for WGI, Sport of the Arts.

CirqueMaskBullet.gifColor Guard Design - Darren Delaney Darren was the first male member of The Boston Crusaders Color Guard (93-94) then went on to march with The Cavaliers (95-96). During the winter seasons, he has been a performing member of Pegasus (96) and The Company (97). He has taught several highly sucessful units in the CT area, including Bunnell HS (98-99) Jonathan Law High School (99-00) and Port Chester High School (00 - present) where he is the color guard designer. Darren was also the director of Terpsichore(01-03), an independent A class color guard who won the A class of WGI in 2003. Darren's "All Age Corps" teaching credits include The New York Skyliners (02-03) and The Sunrisers (05 - present). Currently Darren is designing for the three color guards within the Port Chester School District.

That's what I'm talking about! I've been begging for Quidam for a good while now! Great source material. This will be yet another fantastic show for the Sunrisers. And just what we need as we continue our climb back to the top!
