Official Season 7 Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Kosmos' members have been in a heightened state of focus since they woke up this morning. The members have hardly said a word to each other the whole day- not because there's any conflict, but because there's a near single-minded sense of purpose that they're all sharing. These kids are ready to go out and win a title tonight!

Just a side note- they woke up and stretched this morning to Talking Heads' "Burning Down the House"- so expect some fireworks for sure tonight!

The state of mind at Mystré is completly different. Relaxed, loose and cool. The way we see things is that's it is in the hands of judges so we aren't going to bust our butts over it. Have fun and enjoy the show.

Morning stretch was to the sounds of Loser by Beck

Nastalgia Vanguard slept in a little today. Woke up and had a good breakfast. This morning run was great. Lots of energy and the kids had fun. (it was the year-end boxer run)

We stretched to the some funk. Tower of Power "What is Hip?"

White Stars have never been more ready to go than now. Blue Angels sent us a good morning message, compliments of their drumline...jerks (hahaha) and we're raring and fired up.

Bring on finals.

The Knights and Sunset Sound actually spent the day together going to a flower show--NOW THATS a way to prepare for finals! LOL After that we had some jam sessions where we helped each other perfect the shows we have going. We are so thrilled to be in finals TOGETHER for the first time in any league in a long time! This will likely be the last time the two corps will be together at finals, so it is bringing up a great deal of emotion. We also dragged (no pun intended) Cape Cod Regiment Division III champ and Les Blanc Chevalier along for the wild day.

Speaking of wild, the 16 yo horn player who passed out last night when Bedřich Smetana showed up as we were leaving the field (thanks to an imaginative certain drum major with Blue Angels) is doing fine after a night in the ER and some psyche evaluations. Aparently the young corps member didnt hear the joke between Knights director Gary Currier and Blue Angels director James McDonald about their respective composers coming to watch the show. After some harassing from his own drum major about not being so sensitive and that the dead can't really come back even for drum corps (or can they) he has agreed to march in tonights finals!

We are keeping low key hence this being the only press release today. We will see you all tonight!

OVT and Storm Troopers spent the day enjoying each others company. We had a Carolina BBQ Brunch (thank you sleeping in late!) for both corps, and had the annual OVT-Storm Challenge where there were different areas such as DCI Trivia, Name that tune, March-off, Spin-off, a competition for who could take their horn apart, clean it, and put it back together the fastest, fastest suit up time, etc. This year, Storm Troopers won their first challenge, breaking OVT's 4 season winning streak! Overall, it was a good year for both corps. :)

The Westerners, The Charioteers, and SPARTA had a organization meeting today. We introduced all the leaders of each and the instructors for all three. The kids are really excited about the season. The Drum Major, which is in his second year for The Westerners, walked over to the other two Drum Majors for the other two corps mad had a meeting with them about what to expect and what to do in thinga happen. I thought that was professional of him to do that. The Westerners really didn't know that we were adding the SPARTA Corp until we announced it. They were welcomed with open arms.

We talked for about 2 hours to all the leaders and then had one large instructor meeting, then each corps had meetings and then got all together again and we played the shows for all the corps to see how they felt and what not. It went well for the day and Thursday starts learning the rest of the music and finishing up drill. SPARTA is going to behind a little, but they are starting today and will get help from The Westerners in perparing for the first show. Its going to be a little tight for SPARTA, but I think they will be able to handle it.
