1986 - Sky Ryders vs. Star

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.. I'm running a weekly drum corps viewing night for my marching band students through the summer. Tonight's theme is music from movies and stage.

I'm debating between showing 1986 Star of Indiana (John Williams sci-fi scores) vs. 1986 Sky Ryders (Wizard of Oz). Which one would you show to a bunch of high school kids, many of which are just starting to learn about drum corps?

I vote for 1986 Sky Ryders....there wasn't a dry eye in the house when that balloon took off at the end of the show. They were wonderful.

Now it may appear as a biased answer, but I truly would go with the Wizard show. It is easier for newbies to digest and was done well. Star would be great for a slightly more advanced crowd.

why not both??????it only takes 10 extra minutes. but if you have to chose one, based on todays kids, i would go with star. they will be more interested in movie scores then wizard of oz.

I would show them both. Along with 87 and 88 Sky Ryders.

I'd love to, but I've got limited time. Unfortunately I really do need to pick one show.

Thanks for the input so far.
