little asian pit girl
No offense to the marching member, but...Come ON.... This is exactly why fans are bothered. The assumption is that we're too dumb to understand SINATRA. OK, even if you don't know the song, you should get the motif. If you do get the song, as most will, it's really an insult to have to be told it's about luck when it's a truly famous Sinatra-Vegas tune. Either the arrangement is so bad you have to say what the song is (v. unlikely) or you assume that the audience won't get it. That's lazy design. I really, really hope that gets changed as they go. either way. the line is out.
drumcorp(s)
PC is having a very good season this year, can't the people on this forum give them a little credit? First of all...their show is "cheesy" because duh its a show about Vegas...to a tourist its the mecca of cheesy Second of all...there are lots of other corps who have narration in their shows, not just PC. And in fact they have taken some away, not because of you but because of judges critique. And in comparison to lets say The Cadets, they have almost none at all. Thirdly...they do use images from the casinos, ranging from the Vegas sign itself to a dollar sign to dice that actually move and roll numbers to a slot machine pulling sevens to cards shuffling. I think it is sad that some of you have preconceived notions and judgments on a corps that you haven't even seen. You are like the people that read the movie critic reviews, the ones that say a movie is bad, but really it's pretty good. Keep an open mind throughout the season. I feel from now till August 9th, anything can happen and it's going to be among the more interesting years in terms of corps placement. Good Luck to ALL the corps! Have fun, and don't take any negative comments about your corps on DCP seriously! Most of them are probably wrong! See you at Finals in beautiful Pasadena!!!!!! cire
cant wait to hear it without so much narration! Edited July 11, 2007 by cire
pcfr3ak
I think incorporating more of the visuals you would see at the casinos into their show would be more effective than vocals. For example, the 2 guard members who hold up the props, which are dice. Why not incorporate the dice into marching formations, rather than using props?I also think that it would be natural if the guard unis for the females would naturally be showgirl style (conservative) . Well, their show is still a little dirty, but during their drum break there are two rotating boxes, and when they resolve the cube to the impact, they transform into dice. I'm sure it's much cleaner now. To be honest, I think the mere 4 or 5 audibles are tasteful in comparison to the Cadets entire show. I don't think they are distracting if they are happening at the end of a tune. That's just my opinion.
