Glassmen Unveil Concert With Mark Ford
The biggest performance and party of the year is here! The GLASSMEN are returning to the stage after their highly acclaimed performance at the Valentine Theatre in 2005 – and this year will be even bigger and better!
The GLASSMEN Showcase will be in the brand new state-of-the-art Maumee Performing Arts Center, allowing space for the entire drum corps on stage – as well as several other guests artists and events. This is your chance to check out the GLASSMEN – and see what they have in store for the season. You won’t want to miss the party!
While the GLASSMEN are the concert headliners, they have several exciting guest artists and events as part of the Showcase as well. Percussionist Mark Ford will not only be performing in the concert (both solo and with GLASSMEN accompaniment) – he will also offer a free Master Class before the concert as part of the GLASSMEN ENTERTRAINMENT series. The hometown group – the Maumee Concert Band – will also be performing at the concert – and they have a special surprise for the finale!
The GLASSMEN have been working non-stop to present an amazing hour of music for the stage – on top of learning the music and drill for the summer production, "Mastery and Madness." The GLASSMEN Showcase will present the first opportunity for the public to "preview" the music from the summer program, as well as hear a variety of other tunes that will feature both the percussion and brass sections. And don’t be surprised if the color guard makes an appearance or two in there as well!
The Showcase concert marks a unique chance to not only premiere the GLASSMEN performance, but also an opportunity to see a combined performance integrating several artists on the stage at one time. These artists and performers may not be regularly seen together – or ever again on the stage together at one time. You won’t want to miss this special engagement!
THE MASTER CLASS WITH MARK FORD
As part of the GLASSMEN ENTERTRAINMENT Series, world renowned percussionist Mark Ford will present a Master Class prior to the concert. The Master Class is open to all ages, and admission is free with purchase of a ticket to the concert. The Master Class will be held in the same location as the concert, and run from 12:00pm to 1:30pm.
Mark Ford is the coordinator of percussion activities at The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas and Immediate Past-President of the Percussive Arts Society. He is a marimba specialist and the director of one of the largest percussion programs in the United States at UNT. Ford has been a featured performer/clinician throughout the states at universities and at music conferences including PASIC, MENC, TMEA, Mid-West and CBDNA. Mark has also performed at International Music Festivals in South America, Asia, Australia and Europe.
Ford has been recognized as a leading percussion educator and his university percussion ensembles have won national honors from the Percussive Arts Society. With several marimba and percussion CDs to his credit, Mark has also recorded a DVD with Japanese virtuoso marimbist Keiko Abe and the UNT Wind Symphony. As a composer, Mark Ford has written several popular works for solo marimba and percussion ensemble including Head Talk, Polaris, Kingdom Lore Fanfare, Stubernic, Heads Up!, Nightwatch and Standup Shadow.
Attendees are not required to bring items (music/sticks/mallets) to the class – just an interest in learning some of the in’s and out’s of the percussion world from none other than Mark Ford! Mr. Ford will also be a special guest performer featured in the GLASSMEN Showcase concert later in the afternoon. You won’t want to miss either of these events!

THE VIP 45th ANNIVERSARY PARTY
Join the hottest party of the season for only $5 more than the regular general admission ticket! The GLASSMEN Showcase VIP Party and Auction is open to the public, for fans and friends of all ages! All you need is a VIP Showcase ticket. Alumni, staff, family, fans and friends will pack the party from wall-to-wall. VIPs will also receive priority seating for the concert.
This very special 45th Anniversary celebration will take place just before the GLASSMEN Showcase concert – a VIP Party and Auction – to help celebrate the 45 years of GLASSMEN history – and the many years to come! There will be free food and drinks, live music, giveaways, a special silent auction (open only to VIPs!), and access to artists and merchandise – all before the theatre crowd comes rolling in! Your VIP ticket will also get you free access to the Master Class with Mark Ford at noon, before the party gets started.
The VIP Party and Auction will take place in the main lobby of the Performing Arts Center before the show. Party begins at 1:00 p.m.! There are two ticket options for this amazing day of events – Regular Tickets are $10 – VIP Tickets are $15. Both tickets include free admission to the pre-concert Master Class with Mark Ford.
