S.O.M.E. Accepting Jim Ott Scholarship Applications

| |

The Sponsors of Musical Enrichment, Inc. (S.O.M.E.) created the Jim Ott Scholarship in memory of the legendary brass arranger and instructor, whose life was shortened in 1980 while on tour with the Spirit of Atlanta. Jim Ott was known for creating powerful brass sections such as the Blue Devils, Spirit of Atlanta and the Stockton Commodores.

“Jim Ott grew up in drum corps and had a passion for the activity. He shared his knowledge and experience with the young musicians and inspired them to perform to the fullest. It is the hope of S.O.M.E. that the recipient of the Jim Ott Scholarship will keep that dedication and return their experience, knowledge and creativity back to the drum and bugle corps activity,” said Rick Caccam of the S.O.M.E. board of directors.

Applications for the Jim Ott Scholarship are being accepted at this time and are available by contacting S.O.M.E. Inc. The $3,000 scholarship will be granted for a one year period and will be awarded to a graduating high school senior or a student presently attending an institution of higher learning.
