Immediately after Evan Woods’ turn at conducting the Crossmen hornline during drum major try-outs in December 2005, a thought passed through the 21-year-old’s mind: "That could very likely be the last time I ever get to be in the middle of a DCI hornline."

But it was less than 24-hours later when the Fleming, Ohio, resident, who started playing piano in kindergarten and the trumpet in fifth grade, learned he would hold a leadership position for a world-class drum corps.
