Cascades Founder Rod Stubbs – 1914-2006

It is with a heavy heart that we must report the passing of Rod Stubbs on Saturday, May 20th, at the age of 92. Rod Stubbs was the illustrious leader of the Cascades for the first forty years of its existence. His contribution to drum corps in the Northwest and commitment to opportunities for young people touched thousands. In 2005, Rod received the "Lifetime Achievement Award" presented by the Northwest Drum Corps Alumni Community. For many of us, he will always be remembered as the gentle giant who challenged us to be more than we thought we could be.
