Photographs needed for new book

| |

Did you march in one of these groups?

This fall Steve Vickers, publisher of Drum Corps World, will complete work on a new history book that contains nearly 2,200 drum and bugle corps images. The vast majority of photographs have been accumulated from the extensive archives of Drum Corps World, but there are a number of units that were not among the nearly 15,000 prints at the DCW office in Madison, WI.

Steve has sent this list to approximately 100 different photographers who have shot for DCW over the years and we’re trying to help in this important project by getting the word out here.

The photographs should be of the corps in action, on the field, showing several or a group of members and the uniform design for each specific year. If Steve is unable to find a competition picture, formal pictures will be accepted, but used only if an on-field shot is unavailable.

Images can be accepted in these three forms: 1) a 300 dpi JPG file e- mailed to publisher [at] drumcorpsworld [dot] com; 2) a print mailed to Drum Corps World, Post Office Box 8052, Madison, WI 53708-8052 that will be scanned and returned; or 3) an original negative, also mailed to Drum Corps World, that will be scanned to create a JPG file and then returned.

Because every drum and bugle corps, no matter how big or small, is equally important to the history of the activity, it is important that each one of these groups is represented in the book. The goal is to have 100% of the organizations Steve has identified to be included in this historical document.

If you have any questions about the project, please call Steve Vickers at Drum Corps World at 1-800-554-9630 or send him an e-mail — publisher [at] drumcorpsworld [dot] com.

Your help will be very much appreciated.
