If things go according to Gary Groubert’s plans, the county should have a highly-trained corp of drum-beating, horn-blowing, synchronized-marching youth by the summer of 2008.

Groubert is attempting to assemble a countywide, competition-level drum and bugle corp that can participate in both competitions and local parades.

Drum Corps International, a major drum and bugle corp competition group, allows competitors up to the age of 22, he said, and because he expects it to take at least two years to reach competition level, Groubert said he is currently recruiting members in the 14 to 20 age range.
