The Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps announced today that Gino Cipriani has joined the Buccaneers instructional staff as Brass Caption Head. In this role, he will head the brass instructional program for the 2006-2007 season. Cipriani brings a wealth of experience as an instructor and adjudicator in drum and bugle corps, marching band and other instrumental activities to the two-time defending Drum Corps Associates world champion Buccaneers.

“I’m very excited to be joining the Buccaneers team this year,” said Cipriani. “The Bucs have a tradition of excellence and innovation that’s been around as long as the corps itself. And I’m particularly excited to be jumping aboard for the organization’s 50th anniversary season. It’s going to be a great year, and I’m looking forward to working with the talented corps members and the other members of the instructional and design staff, who are among the very best in the all-age drum corps activity.”

Buccaneers Staff Coordinator Carl Ruocco said that Cipriani’s addition to the instructional staff will make an immediate impact. “Gino’s drum corps resume speaks for itself. He’s an instructor of the highest caliber, and I’m thrilled he’s going to be with us this year. I’m certain he’ll make a fine, fine addition to our team and will capably lead an already talented brass staff, which will be returning next season.”

“This is going to be a very special year in the history of the Buccaneers. We in the corps administration are doing everything we possibly can to make sure our 50th anniversary year will be remembered as the best in Buccaneers history,” said Corps Director James C. Gruber. “We are so pleased that Gino will be sharing his gifts with our members, and I’m certain that drum corps audiences this summer will love the sound of our horn line.”

Cipriani earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Education from the University of Mississippi, where he also studied trumpet performance. From 1990 to 1999, he was a brass instructor for the ten-time Drum Corps International world champion Blue Devils. He served the ten-time DCI world champion Cadets as Brass Caption Head in 2000 and 2001, and held the same post for the Magic of Orlando in 2002 and 2003. He held that post for the six-time DCI world champion Santa Clara Vanguard in 2004 and returned to the Cadets in 2005 and 2006, where he currently holds the position of Brass Caption Supervisor. His DCA resume includes work with the Syracuse Brigadiers and Hawthorne Caballeros.
