Montgomery, Adams Return To Blue Stars

The Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps is pleased to announce the return of Brent Montgomery as the Percussion Caption Head for the 2007 season. Brent will be joined by Seth Adams who will arrange for the front ensemble.

Montgomery’s drum corps career spans three decades. He served as caption head with the Dutch Boy Drum and Bugle corps from 1988 to 1990. The corps barely missed finals in Brent’s first two years, and made it in with a 12th place finish in 1990.

After working with Dutch Boy, Montgomery spent the 1991-1993 seasons with Star of Indiana, working with percussion ensembles that some consider among the best in the history of the activity.

Since 1993 Montgomery has focused primarily on commitments outside the activity, though he has served as an advisor to three other corps. "The Blue Stars opportunity was one I couldn’t pass up," said Montgomery. "To have a chance to work with an organization with this much heritage and tradition is a gift. I’m really looking forward to being able to contribute to the corps and give back to the activity."

Montgomery received his Master’s Degree in Music from the University of Massachusetts. He’s presently a band director at Southport High School, in Indianapolis.

Seth Adams

Seth Adams will arrange the Front Ensemble music for the 2007 Blue Stars. Seth holds degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he also studied arranging and composition with DCI Hall of Fame inductee Thom Hannum and composer Carl Wiens. As an arranger, Seth has shared writing credit for drum corps and marching band shows with Thom Hannum, Colin McNutt, Michael Klesch, Wayne Downey, Daisuke Okamoto and Jay Bocook, among others. Seth was the arranger and director of the Carolina Crown Front Ensemble for 2005-06, and is looking forward to bringing his creative energies and love for the drum corps activity to the Blue Stars.

Currently residing in Greater Boston, Seth is an active music educator and performer. He teaches instrumental music in the Brockton Public School System and is an avid bass player, having performed and recorded with a number of original artists and cover bands across Massachusetts.
