Syracuse Brigadiers Enjoy Successful Open House

| |

Getting its earliest start ever, the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps kicked off the 2007 season this past weekend with a highly successful Open House and first rehearsal. Said Corps Director Rick Martin, “this early start is really indicative of the commitment of the corps administration and staff to do everything we can to make this season as absolutely successful as possible.” Martin continued, “from the turnout and work ethic of everyone who attended, it seems clear that both the new and returning members share that ideal!”

The weekend began with an Open House that was very well-attended, during which returning and prospective members were introduced to the corps, the 2007 show, the staff, and various additional administrative information. (The Open House presentation can be viewed on the corps’ website, www.brigadiers.com). Immediately following this session, the brass and percussion sections set off for the first warm-ups and rehearsals of the year, including the first run at some of the music from the corps’ 2007 show, “Images in Time.”

After a full Saturday, including the always enjoyable post-rehearsal socializing by the corps members, the corps continued its rehearsals Sunday. After even greater progress than anticipated by the staff, the weekend concluded with a “show and tell,” during which all sections performed for each other to demonstrate the weekend’s encouraging accomplishments. All in all, marching members and staff alike were pleased with the developments of the weekend. The corps looks forward to its next camp to continue to build upon this outstanding foundation for the 2007 season.

The Brigs will host their next camp on December 9-10, 2006, at Central Square Middle School, in Central Square, New York. Further details can be found on the corps’ website. The corps is still actively pursuing additional members and invites anyone interested in experiencing the Red and Black first-hand to attend!

With roots dating to 1938, the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corps was reorganized in 1991 after a nineteen-year absence from competition. The Brigadiers are 5-time Drum Corps Associates World Champions, winning titles in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002, and are the only drum and bugle corps to ever win four consecutive DCA titles.
