CorpsVets Open House Report

| |

On Sunday December 3rd, the Atlanta CorpsVets marked the beginning of our 10th season with our biggest open house ever. Over 40 guard, 58 horns, and more than 25 percussionists eagerly listened as Executive Director David Stollberg and Program Coordinator Gary Hopkins mapped out plans for the 2007 season. Dr. Stollberg later commented, “Just a fantastic turnout! And such a talented group as well! This was the most well-attended and most exciting open house that I have ever seen in the 10 year history of the corps!” After Hopkins introduced the caption heads to the members, the corps split into sections and got down to business. The Horns and Drums worked on fundamentals and then received music for the first segment of the 2007 show.

The first round of Guard auditions included bodywork and the intricate flag work of visual coordinator Rodney Bailey. Guard auditions will continue on January 7, 2007. Anyone interested in auditioning for the guard please come to the January 7th camp.

At the end of the short afternoon the horns and drums got together and played through what they had worked on. It was an exciting and productive day and in the words of Gary Hopkins, “WOW it is going to be a great season.”

The corps’ next rehearsal will be January 6th and 7th, 2007 and will mark the first full weekend camp of the 2007 season. The location of the camp will be announced on the web site and via email to registered members in the upcoming weeks.

Folks interested in being a part of the 2007 Atlanta CorpsVets 10th anniversary celebration are encouraged to sign up and pay their registration fee online before January 6th. The staff will begin setting numbers during this camp so don’t delay! Click HERE to register now!
