Mandarins December Camp: Largest Turnout Ever

| |

The Sacramento Mandarins December Camp exceeded expectations with the largest turnout in the corps’ history, as we continue the momentum from the 2006 season (video clip here). The biggest news is the increase in the number of brass auditionees, nearly filling all 60 spots in the brass line, with several students absent due to school performance conflicts.

Brass caption head Dan Fong stated that “We are not only pleased with the number of musicians expressing interest in the Mandarins, but also very pleased with the work ethic and talent exhibited throughout the line. We feel that this camp set a terrific base for our next step in the development of our brass program.”

In addition to auditions and reviewing basic technique exercises, the brass line also learned the 2007 production number, Call of the Mountain, by Joseph Curiale.

Auditions for all sections of the corps will continue at the next camp, January 12-14, 2007. For further information, check the corps audition page.
