Spokane Thunder Kicks Off 2007 Season

| |

The Spokane Thunder Drum & Bugle Corps kicked off its 2007 season with an open house and practice on Dec. 9, 2006. An excited and enthusiastic group of 48 prospective corps members were in attendance to hear introductory remarks by Corps Director Ron Crenshaw and to watch a video of the Thunder’s 6th place performance (Div. III) at DCI World Championships in Madison in August. A general meeting was held with corps members and parents outlining the plans for the 2007 season and the group spent the remainder of the day in sectional rehearsals with staff.

Crenshaw noted that there are another 12-15 members who were not able to attend due to school conflicts, so it looks like Thunder will have a great group of potential members to draw from and will possibly increase in number from 2006. This group includes about half veterans, and half are new to drum corps.

It was also announced that, due to the generosity of a number of supporters and donors, Thunder will soon be ordering all new percussion and brass instruments for the coming season. This new equipment will coincide with a new, revised Thunder uniform and color scheme. Thunder will be all “new” in Pasadena!

Further Thunder news includes the formation of a strong booster group being coordinated by Monette Brannon, and a new volunteer group coordinator, Laryn Bard. These groups will be very active in supporting the corps, and will help ensure Thunder’s continued organizational strength and success into the future.
