Eastern Connecticut Man Hopes Bugle Corps Carries Message

As a correction officer, Walter Edwards has seen the lives of many young people ruined because they had no one to give them a helping hand.

Three years ago, Edwards, 40, decided to do something about it. He formed the 3M Foundation. The group raises money through auctions and donations and uses the proceeds to help defray the cost of drum & bugle corps trips.

As a boy, he was part of a drum & bugle corps that gave him opportunity and experiences that made him the adult he is today. And it was the inspiration of Martin Luther King Jr. he believes provides the core of his determination to see that others get that same chance.
