Many are very active with local and national MENC chapters – even the GLASSMEN themselves are annual participants in the Ohio Music Education Association Conference.

GLASSMEN’s brass arranger, Robert W. Smith is one of the most popular and prolific composers of concert band and orchestral literature in America today, and the GLASSMEN are ecstatic to have him as part of the program design team for the fourth consecutive year. This year, Smith announced an exciting new venture for him as the Director of Product Development and exclusive composer for the C. L. Barnhouse Company and its subsidiary, Walking Frog Records. Smith has also recently returned to teaching as part of the new Music Industry program at Troy University in Troy, AL. "The new program at Troy University serves as a wonderful base of operation," he said, "as well as an opportunity to work with great students and colleagues in a very creative environment."

Mark Waymire has spent over a dozen years in the drum and bugle corps activity, and has joined the GLASSMEN brass staff for the 2007 season. As the Associate Director of Bands at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, he conducts the Symphonic Band, Marching Band and teaches Orchestration, Conducting, Music Education Lab and Band Arranging. Mark will be recognized with an honorary induction the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association (MSBOA ) in June. He is also a recent recipient of the EMU Holman Center Award for outstanding lecturer at Eastern Michigan University. Waymire has also been awarded an advisory position with The National Commission for the Music Arts in Education, a privately funded organization that promotes music education in our elementary and secondary schools.
