Madison Scouts, Capital Sound To Revive Open House

| |

For the first time since the 2002 season, the Madison Scouts and Capital Sound are reviving the annual Open House season preview, which will take place on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Waunakee High School, starting at 1pm, following the conclusion of both corps weekend camps.

Long a tradition in the local drum corps scene, the annual event was discontinued for a variety of reasons. However, with new leadership directing both corps, the decision was made as way to both energize the drum corps community, and to rekindle the relationship between the two groups.

“When I took over as head of Capital Sound,” said corps director, Marc Gofstein, “I thought this would be a great way to bury some of the lingering ill regarding the breakup a few years ago, and to create a stronger bond between the two groups.”

“I remember how great Open House was during my years with the Scouts,” added Madison Executive Director, Jeff Spanos. “Bringing this tradition back will be wonderful for the community, our fans, supporters and alumni. We want to continue the energy the Alumni Project created last August, and rekindle the spark between our two Madison-based drum corps.”

More information will be available on both corps’ websites, www.madisonscouts.org and www.capsound.org.
