March With Carolina Gold On St. Patty’s Day

Carolina Gold formally invites all brass, percussion, and colorguard friends to join us for our performance in the 2007 Raleigh St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 17th in downtown Raleigh, NC. Come be a part of the North Carolina Drum Corps experience … don’t miss this St. Patrick’s Day Drum Corps POT ‘O CAROLINA GOLD!

COST: Nothing but your time!!!

WHO: All Brass, Percussion, or Colorguard Performers who are Drum Corps Alumni, College Band members, or High School Band Members. You must have marched at least one year with a Drum Corps, have been a member of a College Band, or have marched at least 2 years in High School. You will be performing in front of THOUSANDS of people at this hugely popular event in the capital of North Carolina.

WHEN / WHERE: On March 17th, all performers will meet at 9:00am for a mandatory rehearsal in the parking lot on the corner of Wilmington and Lenoir Streets (adjacent to the Raleigh Convention Center) in Downtown Raleigh. After rehearsal, we will have a break and then LINE UP. The parade is shorter than 2 miles in length, so even those who have retired their legs can even join us!

WHAT: The Corps is performing our Official 2007 Irish Parade March, Gary Owens. Music is available on our music page. In addition to our G bugle parts, we will have for a limited time only, Bb Trumpet, F Horn, and normal key Baritone and Tuba parts available. For percussion parts, you need to contact the percussion caption head at akilgore [at] carolinagold [dot] org. Colorguard will learn a simple routine that morning during the rehearsal block.

Bring your instruments, including: Trumpets, Baritones (marching style), Mellophones, and Tubas (over the shoulder only NO SOUSAPHONES). If you do not have access to any of these, let us know, we have plenty to go around. Percussionist need to bring instruments as assigned by the percussion staff after contacting them. Colorguard will have equipment provided (flags only no weapons).

Uniform of the Day: Black Pants (no markings), black shoes (no markings) and a black button down shirt that looks good untucked. Black gloves for brass will be available for purchase if you do not own a pair. Sunglasses are encouraged as well. If you wish, we have a LIMITED supply of the Black/Gold Bowling Shirt Official Parade Uniforms for purchase at $25 a piece (not required).

HOW: Email the Corps Director at director07 [at] carolinagold [dot] org and sign up by Friday morning, March 16th! Please include your instrument, personal info (address, phone, age), equipment needs, phone number, and a blurb on your experience.
