2007 CorpsVets Scholarships Awarded in Atlanta

| |

The Atlanta CorpsVets Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it has selected the 2007 scholarship recipients. Out of remembrance of friends lost and in appreciation for our musical and marching community, CorpsVets offers several scholarships each year to help performers in different venues.

The Jason Lowe Scholarship honors the memory of Jason Lowe, a young CV member and drum corps enthusiast who passed from cancer in the summer of 2002. Jason’s brave spirit and enthusiasm for this activity touched many. The recipient was selected to receive a scholarship to offset the expense of member tuition based on an essay submitted to the Board.

This year’s recipient is William "Billy" Abbott, a CV Alumni and a member of the 2007 Phantom Regiment. Congratulations! In 2006 two individuals were awarded the Jason Lowe Scholarship; Michael Dooley of The Glassmen and Brian Lange of Memphis Sound.

The Lisa Abney Scholarship is in honor of the wife of Alumni percussion member, Jeff Abney. The Abney’s support of CorpsVets and the drum corps community was unfailing. This scholarship is awarded to a member of Spirit of JSU to assist with member tuition.

This year’s recipient is Reggie Humphrey, a CV Alumni and a 2007 marching member of Spirit of JSU. Congratulations! In 2006 Michelle Guest was selected as the recipient of the Lisa Abney Scholarship.
