Reading Buccaneers & Dynasty USA Announce Partnership

The two-time defending Drum Corps Associates (“DCA”) world champion Reading Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps and Dynasty USA, a division of D.E.G. Musical Products, Inc. (“Dynasty”) today announced that the two organizations have entered into a promotional agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Dynasty USA will be the exclusive supplier of marching brass and battery, mallet and auxiliary percussion instruments for the Buccaneers, who in turn will become Dynasty USA’s first endorsed all-age drum and bugle corps.

“As a founding member corps of DCA, we’re excited that Dynasty USA is making such a significant investment in the all-age drum corps activity, and we’re honored that Dynasty USA has selected the Buccaneers to help lead its effort,” said Buccaneers Corps Director James C. Gruber. “In 2005 the Buccaneers made a substantial investment in a new set of Dynasty USA horns, and we’ve been using Dynasty USA percussion instruments for several years. The quality of the instruments our members have used is one of the reasons the corps has enjoyed the competitive success it’s had recently. We’re looking forward to working with Dynasty USA to ensure that our members continue to use the finest equipment and to promote the all-age drum corps activity. This is a great anniversary present for this drum corps.”

The Buccaneers celebrate the corps’ fiftieth anniversary in 2007 with an ambitious program entitled Blue Era. The show features New Era Dance by contemporary American composer Aaron Jay Kernis, The Promise of Living, from The Tender Land, by Aaron Copland, Danza Final (Malambo), from the Estancia dances by Alberto Ginastera and Rhapsody in Blue, by George Gershwin.

“Dynasty USA is pleased to announce our partnership with the Buccaneers,” said R. Allan Murray, Vice President of Dynasty USA. “Everyone in the Dynasty USA family welcomes the Buccaneers and we look forward to working with everyone involved with the corps for a long time. The Buccaneers have a long-standing tradition of quality, competitiveness and showmanship that has been alive for 50 years and Dynasty USA would like to extend our congratulations to the Bucs for such a wonderful accomplishment.”

Founded in 1957, the Buccaneers are a non-profit, education-oriented musical organization. The Buccaneers are a charter member of Drum Corps Associates and won the first-ever DCA world championships in 1965. Additional titles followed in 1968, 1979, 1980 and, most recently, in 2005 and 2006, both undefeated championship seasons. The corps celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2007. All Buccaneers alumni are encouraged to visit the corps’ web site to register to receive anniversary information. The Buccaneers are sponsored in part by Behler-Hein American Legion Post 637, Hamburg, Pennsylvania, and Roy A. Master American Legion Post 217, Topton, Pennsylvania.
