In The News: ‘Drums’ Homecoming For N. Hartford Grads

Matthew Bauer and Michael Miller, two former New Hartford Marching Spartans, will return to the region next month as members of a Boston-based drum corps, the Boston Crusaders.

Performing at Drums Along the Mohawk in Rome will be the culmination of years of preparation and hard work as well as the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, they said in a recent interview. Normally presented in August, Drums Along the Mohawk has been rescheduled this year for Sunday, July 1, at Rome Free Academy stadium.

"We’ve gone to the shows for years, being involved in the activity on a less professional level. We always aspired to be in these groups that were at the epitome of the activity," Miller said. "And now we’re there, we’re doing it."
