Make-a-Wish Drums up Gift From Director

Scott Johnson recently learned something about himself. He’s a celebrity — at least in the world of marching bands and drum corps.

The realization came after an ill boy from Southern California said that meeting Johnson, the director of percussion for the Concord Blue Devils, was one of his biggest wishes.

"It totally floored me," said Johnson. "It’s amazing this drum corps/marching band has become so popular."

Johnson fulfilled the dream of 15-year-old Raul Lozada, who suffers from end-stage renal disease, by visiting him and giving him a private drum lesson. And that wasn’t all.
