In The News: Drum Corps Group Honors Markham

Cobb County schools music supervisor Gary Markham was awarded Coltrin & Associates and Drum Corps International’s first Excellence in Music Education Award during the Drum Corps International’s Southeastern Championship last weekend at the Georgia Dome.

Markham directed the Blue Devils Drum Corps and former Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corps before becoming a judge for the competition.

Many alumni from the Spirit of Atlanta work as band directors in Cobb schools, said Dan Acheson, CEO and executive director of Drum Corps International.
