In The News: Former Odessa High Drum Major To Return Home

It was during a run through of a performance earlier this year when it struck Estephan Quintela just why he had voluntarily committed so much of his life, time and energy to being a member of a drum and bugle corps.

Prior to a show and after a Blue Knights’ practice, the ensemble spotted a man, about 70, Quintela said, sitting in the stands watching the rehearsal. The man was crying. After a few moments, one of the corps’ drum majors walked over and asked the man if he was all right. He promptly said he was fine.

"It’s just," he said, "that I’ve never seen anything so beautiful in my life before.
