In The News: N.J. Drum Corps Compete In Clifton

Drum corps fans of all ages gathered to cheer on North Jersey’s home team during an evening of pomp and pageantry.

Hundreds of people attended the 43rd Annual Drum Corps Grand Prix Saturday evening at the Clifton schools stadium, where a half-dozen corps from all over the Northeast competed for the title of Grand Prix Champion.

Representing North Jersey, the 130-member Hawthorne Caballeros spent all day Saturday perfecting their 17-minute routine. The all-ages team was founded in 1946 as an outlet for performers who enjoyed drum corps during high school, said Alan Katz, business manager for the Caballeros.
