In The News: Blue Devils Win Championship

Before 21-year-old Janelle Yuen and 134 other members of the Concord Blue Devils drum and bugle corps even finished their performance at the legendary Rose Bowl on Saturday, the crowd of 35,000 was roaring.

About 1,500 of those people were Blue Devils alumni — people who have, over the years, put their blood, sweat and tears into this performing arts group known for its jazzy renditions of well-known songs, dazzling showmanship and fluid marching routines.

They were screaming because they knew the storied organization, which also happened to turn 50 this year, was about to win the world championship for the 12th time, beating out 100 other corps from around the globe.
