The only thing that was vacation-like about Justin Ceckowski’s summer vacation was he traveled the country.

He slept on gym floors and buses. He was up before 8 a.m. and rehearsing until 11 p.m. every day. He worked so hard he lost 50 pounds.

That’s what it takes to be a member of a drum and bugle corps, one of the competitive bands that marches at Drum Corps International events such as the annual Blue Water Brass show at Memorial Stadium in Port Huron.
