Severn Vale MBC In New Dry Location

| |

It will come as no surprise to anyone that in terms of the recent flooding, Upton on Severn, the original home of the Severn Vale Marching Band Championships, was one of the worst hit areas, and one point the sports field which is hired for the BYBA contest was under 5 feet of water!! Well, the water has gone, as has some of the band and contest equipment, though the silt still remains, and also the sports pavilion will be uninhabitable until the new year.

I’m pleased to advise that the Seven Vale committee, led by Contest Director Ruth Probert have checked almost a dozen venues, most of which have similar issues, though fortunately, the Hanley Castle High School is home and dry, less than 2 miles from the centre of devastation in Upton – what a find!!

The Performance Portfolio committee is working with Ruth to ensure there is a smooth transition to the temporary venue for 2007. Full details are available via the BYBA Web Site at www.byba.org.uk

BYBA would like to wish the Severn Vale committee and all competing units the very best of luck for the 15th September.
